ORGANIZING AUTHORITY, The Oktoberfest Regatta is organized by Nagawicka Lake Yacht Club, Delafield, WI.

RULES

This regatta will be governed by the 2017-2020 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and by the Sailing Instructions, copies of which will be distributed at check in. Each one design class will also be subject to its class rules. It is the duty of each skipper to be familiar with these rules.

 

CLASSES

Vanguard 15,  M-15, Laser, 420,  and MC Scow. 3 minute Starting Sequence, staggering starts for the different fleets. Downwind Finishes.

ELIGIBILITY

This is an open regatta. All yachts of the participating classes are welcome. Lasers are welcome to switch back and forth between 4.7, Radial, and full rigs. Switching may not be performed while underway, however. If 5 or more Radials are registered, they will have their own scoring, and trophies. Rig switches will not be permitted within the Radial fleet.

 

ENTRIES 

A minimum total of 10 boats must be registered by Monday, September 30th, 2023 at 1700 in order for this regatta to be held. Eligible yachts are entered upon completion of the registration forms, payment of the regatta fee, and check-in at the regatta.  Registration is located at www.sailnlyc.com . No refunds will be given after October 20th. SAFETY  All boats must be in sound condition and be equipped in accordance with their class rules and the RRS as well as federal and state regulations. It is the responsibility of each skipper to assess the ability of himself, his crew, and his boat to safely compete in the weather conditions as they exist. Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4. Decision to Race.

 

RACING SCHEDULE

SAT, Oct. 8:

1000 Registration & check-in.

1100 Skippers Meeting. 1200 First Warning Signal

SUN, Oct. 9: 

0900 Report time.

 1000 First Warning Signal.

 No starting signals after 1400.

 

Awards presentation following last race.

 

MEALS 

A meal after racing on Saturday and Sunday are included with the regatta fee (Vanguard and 470s: 2 meals per boat, Lasers and MCs: 1 meal per boat). Meals are also available to non-competitors for $7/ meal. Beer, cocktails and all other items are available via cash bar.   No carry-ins of alcohol are allowed.

 

SCORING

Low point scoring (RRS Appendix A) will be in effect. A boat’s score shall be the total of her race scores and no race shall be excluded. This changes RRS A2. One race will constitute a series.

 

PRIZES 

Prizes will be awarded to the first three finishers in the form of Beer.  If there are only three boats registered in a class, two prizes will be awarded.   Additional prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the Regatta Committee.

 

OVERNIGHT STORAGE

All boats may be stored in the NLYC area overnight on Friday and Saturday night. Please note however, that the Yacht Club and the Park will not be responsible for damaged, lost or stolen items and/or boats. Drop offs on Friday night can be left in the upper lot, located immediately north-northeast of the clubhouse.
